Court Grants Final Approval to $6.5 Million Settlement in In re OCA, Inc. Securities Litigation

March 12, 2009 – By Order dated March 2, 2009, Chief Judge Sarah S. Vance of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana granted final approval of the $6.5 million cash settlement of this securities class action. See In re OCA, Inc. Securities and Derivative Litigation, 2009 WL 512081 (E.D. La. Mar. 2, 2009). In approving the settlement and Kaplan Fox’s fee application, the Court praised Kaplan Fox, noting “[t]he Court does not doubt that handling this difficult case required considerable skill and experience.” Id. at *21. It is expected that the claims administration process will take several more months, after which an application to the Court will be made to distribute the Net Settlement Fund in accordance with the Court-approved Plan of Allocation.
