On August 20, 2026, The Bear Cave published a report titled “Problems at Guggenheim Strategic Opportunities Fund (GOF)” (the “Report”). Reportedly, GOF is co-managed by Guggenheim Partners Investment Management, LLC, which is led by Chief Executive Officer Mark Walter (“Walter”). The Report alleges that despite a nearly two-decade track record and impressive monthly distributions, “[a]ccording to a former Guggenheim executive, ‘It was kind of a dumping ground’ and full of ‘the yieldiest pieces of crap’ that were ‘very illiquid’ with ‘chunk exposure,’ adding that it is ‘hard to adjust when faced with flows.’ The report also states that “[the former Guggenheim executive] added: ‘Any client that needed to exit it always had difficulties with that.’” Further, the Report states that “the FBI has seized [Walter’s] devices and also, separately, the phone of a different Guggenheim Investments executive” and that “Federal prosecutors have been investigating Walter’s asset management arm and two insurers he owns through his firm, TWG Global.” Earlier this year, a grand jury subpoenaed those insurers over whether billions of dollars of their holdings had gone to Walter’s other companies. On August 20, 2026 the price of Guggenheim’s stock fell $0.67 per share, or 6.64%, to close at $9.42 per share. WHY CONTACT KAPLAN FOX?
