Clara Abramson Owens is an Associate in the firm’s New York office. Her practice focuses on complex litigation, including securities, consumer protection, data privacy, and antitrust matters.

Clara represents investors, consumers and other plaintiffs in high-stakes complex litigation across a wide variety of industries including the financial sector, pharmaceuticals, securities, sports, and gaming litigation.

She currently represents investors and clients in In re Easterly Rocmuni High Income Municipal Bond Fund, 25-cv-6028 (DLC) (S.D.N.Y.); Kinnie MA IRA, et al. v. Ascendant Capital, LLC, et al., No. 19-cv-01050-ABD (W.D. Tex.), as Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Class Counsel in a class action alleging that GPB Capital Holdings, LLC and Ascendant Capital engaged in a scheme to improperly sell over $1.8 billion of limited partnership interests to thousands of investors; Stadium Capital LLC v. Co-Diagnostics, Inc., et al. (S.D.N.Y.); In re Generic Pharm. Pricing Antitrust Litig., No. 16-CB-27243 (E.D. Pa.), where she represents direct-purchaser plaintiffs. She also represents consumers in suits against prediction markets that violate state consumer protection and gambling laws in In re Kalshi Sports Prediction Market Litigation, 1:25-cv-08585 (JLR) (S.D.N.Y.) and Chan v. DraftKings Inc., and GUS III LLC, 1:26-cv-13442.

She was part of the team that successfully represented CalSTRS and the Firemen’s Retirement System of St. Louis in a derivative action arising out of Facebook’s alleged improper data sharing practices, which settled for a landmark $190 million, in addition to securing corporate governance changes. In re Facebook, Inc. Deriv. Litig., 2018-0307-JRS (Del. Ch.). 

Clara earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where she served on the executive boards of the Moot Court Board and the Fordham International Law Journal. She interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York with the Criminal Division.

Clara gained litigation experience as a paralegal with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division and at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
