What the lawsuit alleges

This securities fraud action is alleged to arise from Everest’s aggressive expansion of its U.S. casualty insurance business and Defendants’ false assurances that the Company had adequately managed the resulting risks.

What happened to Everest Group stock

According to the complaint, the truth started to emerge on October 30, 2024, when Everest released its third quarter results and disclosed that loss activity in its U.S. casualty business had “definitely spiked.” On this news, Everest’s stock price fell $24.39 per share, or 6.4%, to close at $355.61 per share on October 31 2024.

According to the complaint, the truth further emerged on October 27, 2025 when Everest disclosed $478 million in unfavorable prior-year reserve development, driven principally by adverse development in U.S. casualty losses from accident years 2022 through 2024. The Company allegedly also entered into an agreement providing $1.2 billion in protection against further adverse development on approximately $5.4 billion of North American Insurance. Following these disclosures, Everest’s stock price fell $39.07 per share, or 11.4%, from $343.98 on October 27 to close at $304.91 on October 28, 2025.
